About our 100th Anniversary Celebration
St. James’ Episcopal Church in Parkton is a parish where families and friends come to worship, celebrate, laugh, cry, and find a deeper relationship with God. In 2013, we will celebrate 100 years of our place in history and as a loving Christian community.
2013 marks the anniversary of the dedication of “the little chapel on the hill.” This church has seen physical changes over the years – 1921 the bell from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was installed and still rings out the Good News each Sunday. The congregation has witnessed growth, decline and growth again. Always our faith has been strong, honoring our past and looking to the future.
We hope you will join us in celebrating our 100th Anniversary throughout 2013. We have a variety of activities, special events and celebrations planned for the year ahead. Please visit the What’s Happening page of our website, stjamesparkton.org, for a complete list of activities.
A special event is planned for October 20, the feast of St. James’ of Jerusalem. Together with Bishop Eugene Taylor Sutton, we will gather at the Crowne Plaza in Timonium after the 10:15 am service for a luncheon. This will be a day of great joy as we share the past and future of St. James’ Church.
We’ll also be marking this occasion with a look back. Visit the parish hall, which was built in 1951, to be a part of the living timeline we will create together this spring, and view our gallery of photographs.
Over the course of the year there will be commemorative items available to mark the special year, including anniversary polo shirts, ceramic crocks, watercolor prints of the church and a Christmas ornament.
We hope you will join us throughout the year and be part of this historic occasion. Please be sure to visit our website and follow us on Facebook to keep up with the latest anniversary news and information.
